Be Yourself

Song: Be Yourself

In 1982, The "No More Feeling Weird" LP came out in finer stores, like Gemco and Toys R Us.  Rev. Rennie Mau directed our church children's choir to perform as the choir on these "No More . . ." children series records.  During one of the last recording sessions, Rev. Mau asked me to sing the boy solo on the song "Be Yourself."

My part of the song is about a boy named "Michael." He is comparing himself to other kids and doesn't feel good about himself.  But his friend tells him he is "understanding and kind." To this day, I want to be understanding and kind.

This experience in a recording studio is one of the highlights from my childhood.  I love having my 12 years-old voice on this song and record.   I am grateful to Rev. Mau for giving me the opportunity.
